What I did over summer vacation. by peirrin
What I did over summer vacation.
Random house upgrades.  Please note that I didn't do it all by myself.  I helped lay the floor with two other people, I did floor prep and the trim on the tile, but wasn't there for the grout.  I did cut the shelves over the stove and make the horseshoe brackets for them (not visible in this shot) I helped carry the stove in, and set up parts of it, but I wasn't around for the hole in the roof bit.  I finished up the wood box after my dad had an accident, but he did most of it.   The coffee table was about half and half. I did a little of the fill in on the cracks in the wood, and carved/installed the legs.  He did the sanding and finish coat. (Black walnut.  TOUGH stuff)  And I wasn't there for the initial wall prep on the stone work.  But I put about half the rocks up, and did all the finish grouting.

So, some major life changes have taken place for me in the past few weeks.   I quit my job of seven (?!?!) years, and switched careers, completely out of my comfort zone.

It's weird...  I'm no longer an air-brush artist/tech guy/carpenter/scrap-metal scrounger/trouble shooter/anything-I-need-to-be-to-make-money-guy.

My new job should take care of most of my expenses.  That's it.  One job.  At one place.  Sure, I'll probably do some jobs on the side still to help pay some expenses for my parents/grandparents if needed.  But... I won't HAVE to work a second job if I don't want to.

And, it's not ideal, I mean, it's a desk job.  And so many people, myself included, would encourage someone to choose to work at a job that makes them happy over a job that makes a little more money.  But, not everyone is going to find a job that makes them feel all warm and fuzzy everyday right?  And sometimes, you just need more money.

And this will give me free time again.  I mean, sure, I had time before, but without money, you find that you run out of things to do really quick, and if you're so tired in that time that you don't feel like moving, much less like doing anything that makes you happy, then it's not worth much.

So, I'm hoping to actually entertain some hobbies again.

Like I said, it's going to be weird...
